Christmas is coming...

I'm not sure about your goose, but mine is ALREADY fat. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Christmas is right around the corner, which is why we scheduled some more Holiday Workshop days. Join us on Saturday December 1st or December 8th to work on any of our featured projects. All of the projects are designed to be finished in one day.

How about a quillow, a ten minute tablerunner, zippered bag, a rewards wallet, a kids sleeping bag, a crayon bag, a placemat for Santa's cookies, toasty mittens, personalized pillowcases and much more!

We love snowmen, don't you?

This Christmas quilt features Nancy Halverson's panel from her Christmas Favorites line. It would make a great gift for a special kid.

We look forward to seeing you!

Reindeer Dash...did you make it?

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Reindeer Dash. We had a great time and it seems that all the "dashers" did too. How much fun? I think a picture is sometimes worth a thousand words (and you wouldn't want to read a thousand word post anyway)

Reminders: Freedom Rings BOM & Christmas Favorites BOM started this month. We still have a few spaces left in both. Freedom Rings runs for 7 months and Christmas Favorites runs for 10 months.

We will come back soon with more information about upcoming events and blocks of the months.

A Little Bit of This and That...

We have so much going on at the shop. We are getting ready for the Reindeer Dash, October 4th, 5th & 6th. The Holiday Workshop, October 22nd-26th. New Blocks of the Month, new programs, new classes, new kits and lots more that I will share later.

The Reindeer Dash kicks off October 4th. Each store wlll be handing out a fat quarter from Nancy Halverson's Christmas Favorites line, and a free pattern. We have used most of her line in a new block of the month that starts October 1st.
We are also starting another stitchery block of the month in October. Little Susan is featured each day performing her chores. You get to choose the border color for your quilt.

We have some great new kits in the store and more are on the way. Here are some...

We also have some new classes on the schedule...A machine quilting class starts next Thursday evening and runs for 6-weeks. This class will teach you how to quilt on your home sewing machine. There are a limited number of spaces, so call or come in to sign up.
Here is a sampling of the other classes we have coming up-

You will want to come to our Holiday Workshop. We will have fun gift ideas that you can get done before Christmas. You can come for the whole week, and work on different projects that we will feature. You have the choice to work on any of the projects. We also offer a few evenings for those of you that can't make it during the day. Aren't these pencil cases a great idea? One is being used by my daughter's friend in high school as a pencil case, one will probably be used as a cosmetic case by another girl who is in college. The last one was just mailed, so I am not sure what she is going to with it, shhhh-it's a surprise.
We look forward to seeing you soon!

A Purse by any other name is still a Purse

We have an exciting new class scheduled! Patti will show you how to make a varierty of different looking purses from just ONE pattern. The picture shows just a few of the options you can choose from. Also learn how to make a bonus makeup case to match. You won't be able to make just one. This 3-part class will be offered on Saturdays, beginning October 20th. Call or come in to sign up

Have you seen this adorable Star pillow? Come learn how to make it on Saturday, August 11th - there isn't a separate pattern, so you have to take the class. What a great idea for the all of the Holidays. I would make a few for gifts.

Our class with Lisa, from Primitive Gatherings was a success. Everyone from beginners to pros learned something. They were treated to fun gifts from Lisa, and door prizes from the shop. I already have students asking me about a class next year. If you missed this one, you will want to sign up next year. More details will come, but she already promised to come back. If you missed this year's and would like a kit, we have purchased some for the shop to sell.

I have a bit of an obsession with the following:

Perhaps it is because I have teenagers. Perhaps it is because it reminds me to stop and take a deep breath sometimes. But most of all, I just love all the different variations. Where did the saying originate?

The poster was created by the Ministy of Information (British Government) in 1939, at the beginning of World War II. It was a propaganda poster designed to lift the morale of the British citizens, in the event of a wartime disaster. The poster was distributed in limited numbers. It has become a popular slogan on many items, with many different variations.

How big is my obsession? Well I ordered this fabric, which should arrive soon. We already have the multi-color version at the store.

SEW-C9601-BLACK
But more exciting is THIS! My new IPhone cover, that I custom ordered-
This might be my new mantra...

Kings & Queens & New Rulers...

Since the Summer games are being held in London, there is lots of talk about the King and Queen and Royalty. We decided to join in on the fun and order our own "Rulers".
Ours are made by Creative Grids, and should be arriving any day now. We will be sharing some videos that will show you how to make your life easier. I'm all for that. Today's featured ruler is the Curved Corner Cutter. Let us know if you want us to reserve one for you!

Today & Everyday...

We had so much fun seeing all of the "runners" during the Southern California Quilt Run. If you visited our store, then you know that we were paying a special tribute to the troops who are serving our Country. You may have heard a few "I don't know if you knew, someone's wearing red, white & blue!" They were treated to a give away. The quilt run is over, but our Tribute to the Troops is NOT! Come in to the store for details on how you can particpiate in our effort to collect items for care packages that will be sent to the troops. Your donations will earn you a 20% off coupon, to be used on your total purchase in the month of August 2012.

We just received Funky Fall from Clothworks. I personally want a bolt of the fabric with the crows on it. You will also want to come in and see out trunk show from Button Willow Designs. These patterns were very popular during the run.

Lisa from Primitive Gatherings is coming to teach at the store. She will be here July 30th, from 10-4PM, teaching the Saltbox mat. What a great chance to learn how to work with wool. We will have door prizes, food and lots of fun! Call the store for details and to sign up. Space will be limited.

We have lots of red, white & blue fabrics! Come on in and get inspired by some of the great patriotic kits and projects we have. We even have some great patriotic music playing, but don't be alarmed if the staff pauses to salute the flag when the Star Bangled Banner starts playing.
We look forward to seeing you...
